I have to assume that there's going to be a TON of studio involvement (which has usually been a bad sign for Joss) plus he has never really dealt with headstrong actors like Robert Downey Jr. and Sam Jackson. It should be interesting to see what happens when Sam tells him that he won't play something a certain way or Downey rips up the day's pages and wants to improvise.
I like Whedon but I feel like he's someone who should be moving away from studio project and not trying to juggle something like this.
