39. "I like Hip Hop is Dead quite a bit more than I remember" In response to In response to 0
I think at the time I was full on the "yeah! Hip Hip IS Dead" vibe and was disappointed that this wasn't the antidote Nas was leading us to believe with the title. These days with albums, especially older albums I revisit, I mostly just rate them on a casual approach with what sounds good and not focus on whether something is some revolutionary piece of music that moves the needle or had some impact on the future of the genre.
Hip Hop is Dead has more that I like than dislike, something I didn't think when I gave my initial rating (I always go through and answer all the questions so I can put together the results sheet).
I'm giving it a 6/10. Overall I liked it, but some of the bad songs are fucking DUDS ("Who Killed It" is one of the worst songs in his catalog).
