"Meshell playing 8 shows in DC (with some ol' Friends!)"
check it, Meshell is playing 8 sets (2 shows a night) in DC in January.
If that's not enough, she'll be joined on stage with Tarus Mateen, AS WELL as with a few of her ol' friends from "The Brethren" ('the Brethren' was the name for the Band that she blazed-trails and straight-up 'scorched stages' with mainly in the mid-late 90s during those amazing live tours back then....
if you missed Meshell & the Brethren live, TRUST me you missed some of the REALEST most amazing stuff. It was an oasis of creative & vibrant music that just PULLED me in, got me through, and pushed me forward all at once.
Anywayz...two of the members will be joining Meshell in DC...drop kickin' Drummer Gene Lake (man, ive got some live clips of him playing early versions of Dead Nigga Blvd that will make your heart thump) & and mr Federico Gonzales Pena (after all of these years, he's still my personal favorite keyboardist to ever create with meshell...this cat taps STRAIGHT INTO into the 'emotion and soul of a piece like nobody else for me....AND dude can 'funk it up' with the best of em at the same time
i wish i could afford to take some vacation and travel to DC to catch ALL of these shows, but i can only afford to see one set....(tix copped)
i have no idea what they'll be playing...jazz? funk? Hybrid grooves? new stuff? old stuff?...but i dont care....i just wanna hear these folks enjoy playing with each other, whatever it ends up being. I just wanna have fun listening to THEM have fun....
