While I'm enjoying parts of both new Prince projects, I was caught off guard when I heard Anotherlove... Alice Smith's original is pretty amazing. Prince's rewrite of this song is frightening - especially after the break where the band goes into overdrive! The guitars in the back are frightening! And Prince's solo is super aggressive and just more proof that he's one of the freakiest lead electric guitar players around.
That aside, Prince's rhythm playing on Clouds is also funky and freaky as can be! It's super hard to hear but try this out: unplug your headphones slightly when listening to Clouds - his rhythm playing is buried way down deep in the mix but you'll hear parts of it clearly this way.
