I went to this 13 years ago....and it was groundbreaking at the time. All the names in the industry were there - we got to try out the new 07ISP (or was it the 09?) with the quadrophonic transformer switches, we got records, shirts, tapes, skratch records, a ton of things to go with our tickets (the mid-level ones which we bought were $200 I think...and then the ticket to the after party was $25 with the Skratch Perverts, DJ Shadow/Cut Chemist/Steinski, DJ Radar or Z-Trip, and the final performance of the Invisibl Skratch Piklz )...for an 18 year old fresh out of high school, this was something I had to save a bit for...but worth every penny.
My friend and I flew in from LA and didn't get a hotel - just went from the party at 2am for the 7am flight back from San Fran, we just hung in the airport.
Anyway...this might not have become the yearly event they thought it was going to then, but it's a moment in time that's a must see for the fans of this era. Also hilarious to see A-Trak that young.
