"I think the Kanye I really dug was just Rhymefest and Consequence"

I heard that remix of Rhianna's Diamonds featuring Kanye West and it sounded it interesting because it was not the dark brooding Kanye of late but rather it sound like an attempt at a throwback to the funny goofy Kanye of his first two albums. Only problem is that it just wasn't that funny.

Dude hasn't made me laugh in a minute to be honest. Which is odd because to me it was his blue collar to middleclass humor and perspective is what was draw in the first place (Who else was rapping about working at the gap?)

The truth is the closest I've heard to that old Kanye wit are on Rhymefest and Consequence mixtapes.

I am not sure the extent they ghostwrote for Kanye (anyone got linear notes?)

Anyone else buy into the theory that it might have been rhymefest and consequence who were responsible for that "Old Kanye" or is it that dude just got rich?
