...and tried to start a convo about where it came from on my facebook last year but got little responses and none answering the question. My guess is from Africa since there is ample examples of djelis and local singers where men sing in higher octaves. But there's gotta be more to that story.
(And what happened to the baritone love? And why no love for the Female Contralto? Like Lalah Hathaway!)
