Are EP's "LAZY" musically to you? Why not full LP Release?

Over the years I have seen 6-8 track EP's but why not go ahead and make it a 10-12 track Album? EP's seem like a tease and a wasted release to me. Just my thoughts but questions.......

1. What do you feel about EP's?
2. Should EP's be free and just considered Promo for upcoming LP?
3. What is some of your Fav EP's over the years?
4. Do you feel EP's are lazy or serve their purpose?
5. Any random comment from a different perspective..
