I was surprised Erykah wasn't really with it but it does make sense the more I think about it. I personally was intrigued by the song but felt her vocals were always off and didn't sound right. The video I thought wasn't really about anything moreso just something to provoke a response (Which is fine and most experimental stuff I feel that way). So it's not very surprising to hear that he outright admitted to her that it's meaningless. I think it was classy of her to get ppl's immediate response before she came forward and started her beef. At least it allowed the art to breathe before the drama started (Even if she had every right to come out right from the start). Overall I think it's pretty shitty he gave his word on approval and then released it without her knowing. He's always rubbed me the wrong way, especially when he came out so hard against Arcade Fire (Seemed like a hidden agenda).
