"Can We Talk About Prince' Rendition of Parlet's "Cookie Jar"?"

I've been all over his 88/89 period lately, due to his production of Patti LaBelle "Love 89", it just dawned on me that Prince' BEST harmony arrangements were during this period. He experimented a lot with his harmony use, and precisely his singing in "Love 89", which what sparked my interest.

So, as I was skimming through his 88/89 material trying to find something of similarity, I unexpectedly stumbled upon this monster after YEARS of skipping it: http://youtu.be/7gyAgS-2cak

What in the deep jet black & blue HELL?!?
