the only thing this did - besides give me a dope track of course - was point out to me (again) why my opinion is that Kendrick is so far ahead of J. Cole in literally every category of making rap music that I actually don't want a collaboration album from them. Kendrick destroyed that J. Cole beat - to the point where it is superior to the original version. J. Cole does ok....but he really doesn't do the "Alright" beat justice. I'm not a J. Cole fan but I have listened to all of his projects since the warm up mixtape - hoping that he would eventually surpass Friday Night Lights and he still hasn't IMO. I feel like he just hasn't fulfilled his potential. All of his albums are just ok, whereas Kendrick has improved crazily since the first project I heard by him (Overly Dedicated) and is currently my favorite rapper - which is kind of crazy since I'd argue that Friday Night Lights may be marginally better than Overly Dedicated. I feel like if this collaboration that the general public seems to be clamoring for gets released, to me, it would just be Kendrick sonning J. Cole for 45min-1hr. I'd rather another solo Kendrick project than him to work with J. Cole - the only reason these two dudes even get compared is because the majority of casual rap fans see them as the only two new dudes in the "mainstream" who are talking about "real shit". Musically they are extremely different. Stylistically extremely different - especially after TPAB. Their stories are extremely different. etc. etc. etc.
