>the man himself on his records, interviews etc.. has talked >about stats, and awards and his success. you don't listen and >that makes you a Incomplete journalist on the subject. the man >himself talked about it.
Every superstar act talks about that...From Springsteen to Prince to Madonna to Beyonce to Kells....They all say that when you got the hardware, acclaim and platinum plaques, record sales at this point in their career is secondary...In fact Kells said this very same thing to me...He made a point to say this several times to me...
It's the reason why I dismissed your very point...Because it's moot to this convo....My post was about YOU tap dancing...Not Kells and record sales...
>you don't just brush it off because its there on record.
When he has said the same thing to me, it doesn't matter within the context of this convo...Again, I'm talking about YOU and your plea copping, which is silly at this point....
>and he is one of the 5 best selling Black Artists Ever in the >R&B World period.
Correct...So that should be reason enough to not make a big deal off of record sales when an artist has done so much in his career...Right?
>And yet, u do that to other GREAT artist you just happen to not like... >anyway BP ain't a Great album its good and it flows nicely, >however we differ if he made a Better album it would sell >period. > >because while i like joints off the album, it ain't an all the >way thing. > >his biggest obstacle is that he ain't had a money track in a >good while. > >trapped in the closet overrode everything for a while and it >burried some of his later albums. > >i still believe with the right material he can go multi >platinum easily and i will always say that. > > >however regardless of sales and hits, he is the kang of Music >today and the best artist in the World. he is the Lebron James >of Music. > >and he is the last Great R&B artist and he also got the >Baton from Michael Jackson Nuff said. he been a strong >live act we talking a cat two decades deep in his career and >he has accomplished what so few have period with his colabs >and solo career. > > > >you be lying if you say you don't want a favorite artist of >yours not to get rewarded and acclaim. because you always >want to see and hear your favorite artist getting them sales >and acknowledgement. > >and to me Kellz is that kind of artist who has standards as >songs and albums, tours and culture impact period. > >at the end of day i support the brother as always period. you >know i don't care because he is the best Artist we got left.
Let me break this down for you....
I don't care that Kells sold only 100 K...To me, it's the natural progression of things....
His comments about his legacy and not having anything to prove has been said by every BIG TIME act at some point in their career...
Really, you are spinning your wheels on this one that it's more embarrassing than anything else...
What Kell's dwindling record sales should teach u is it hits EVERYBODY sooner or later....And it's been that way for the last three albums for Kells, which again, should not be a big deal...At all...
This is what you should take away from this exchange:
R KELLY, JUST LIKE ELVIS, JAMES BROWN, ARETHA FRANKLIN, PRINCE, MJ, SLY STONE, THE ROLLING STONES, RADIOHEAD, LIONEL RICHIE and any other act u want to throw in have all seen their record sales go down...
My post is not about Kells' record sales...It's about you being very outlandishly hypocritical as usual...lol
When you call other legendary acts on this board RELICS because of dwindling record sales or lack of chart hits, that's the issue...
That's how you end up looking like a blatant homer who is not at all serious about discussing music....
This is that evergreen period for Kells...He should be able to tour his ass off, make some bank, and become a better live act (which he def. has the tools to do so...) by getting better musicians around him...Kells will be OK...
As for u? Grow up....U should like Kells' music on its own merits...Not whether or not he's still popular...
That's all to it....
GOAT of his era......long live Prince.....God is alive....
