Notorious big is a top 5 musical genius of the past 20 years? Get the fuck outta here with that bullshit.. Hes not a top 5 MC from the past 20 years.. Let alone 'musical genius'....
-- its funny how dangelo and erykah are both on the list.. Im a fan of both artists and both are Super great artists... But how can they be a top 20 genius in the past 20 yrars, especially dangelo with only 2 albums... And Questlove aint on the mfking list??? A man who has worked on both their albums, al green's new shit, commons shit, all the roots shits, etc... And that's kind of only scratching the surface... WTF?
--The vibe list is wack as hell on so many levels..
-- You CANT have a GENIUS conversation and ever have tupac at the bottom and Biggie 12 spots higher!! u can't do that... Pac shoulda been #5...Biggie Shouldnt Be on This List! Pac recorded SO much material in such a Short amount of time...and everybody he recorded with.... it's all documented... said how fast he laid his verses down in the studio. It takes real golden talent and real genius to record that much dope ass material on that high of a level in that short amount of time.. Me against the world, thug life, all eyez on me, makaveli, all the movies and soundtrack songs, the acting... And the archives and archives of unreleased songs... All recorded by the time he was 25... Biggie had 2 albums.. Biggie was a dope rapper from new york. genius? no.
-- next point. Was Notorious Big a better mc than Black Thought? Fuck no. Was he anywhere close to as prolific as Black Thought? fuck no. Then how in the fuck biggie on the list and black thought isn't? And how could big be a top 5 'genius'? Cmon duke. U got guys like Wayne Coyne from the flaming lips out here recording like 20 albums since '93, pushing envelopes and colors and limits and inventing... doing real genius shit and putting the g in genius... Flaming Lips aren't on the list tho. but biggie is top 5? what a joke.
---Same shit with pharrell.. He is the epitome and posterboy for swag... Absolutely. Style icon and fashion icon of the 2000s. undisputable. He had a great run on the production. Swag. But on the Mic? Sub par. Rapper / rhymes / flow? Sub par. As a singer? Sub par as shit. ain't no way u can put pharrell over outkast. u can't do it. outkast were the premier rap Group for 4 classic albums. andre is the best MC from the south ever. and they always had their style shit too. and U cant put pharrell over organized noize either... Oh... Thats right.. ONP didn't even make the list... Even though they put outkast, goodie mob, tlc, sleepy brown, cool breeze, big rube, and the whole southern hiphop movement on the map... and are to southern rap what Dr. Dre was to the West Coast, and what Premier and Marley Marl were to the East Coast. They were one of the top 3 production movements from 93 to year 2000... period. One of the tightest production units in hiphop history on the musicianship and instrumentation/beats/production. Pharrell? he had a nice run. no where near as influential or as much of a pioneer.
The vibe list is super wack.
