elsewhere and that is tired on your part Murph.
dude I bought Madhouse when it first came out and listen to it. you forget i use to ride and bump all things that came out of minneapolis back then.
i kid you not I use to listen to Madhouse and watch "Mike Hammer" every thursday night and eat pasta with it.
it was corny because Prince ain't no Jazz cat. it had some nice licks and grooves, however it sounded like re threads of other things he had been doing and he he didn't have the chops to run no full band sound. what I dug about Prince back then was the cold robotic funk and Groove he did with the synths, drum programming and the way he played his guitar and Bass in parts, however him and a full Brass section or that kind of sound felt out of place.
"Six" sounded like "A Love bizarre" without words and it was catchy but it wasn't no jazz.
Miles Davis at that time was liking any and everything. he dug and respected prince, however that wasn't one of Prince's best works.
it felt like some cat who was bored trying to show off something which felt awkward.
take my word on this I doubt seriously even amongest your fellow Purple Koolaid drinkers that you gonna get a 100 Prince fans die hard from back then to include any of the madhouse Projects especially that first one with his best of that decade.
it was a cult thing and it felt just like a Vanity project.
yeah I mentioned Rick James because he jammed with a fellow Jazz funkateer in ROy Ayers something that to me Prince missed out on when he was in prime and peak.
Madhouse was more like Outhouse. poor Murph can't handle another opinon especially from somebody else that was there and listen to those albums. Madhouse 16 was constipated and long and then that last one 24 was as exciting as getting a wisdom tooth pulled.
IMO the best stuff that Prince did during that time on the instrumental tip was
"Power fantastic"
the Original "Old friends for Sale"
"Alexa De Paris"
"Venus de milo"
but Prince ain't no Jazz Musician, however he can do riffs and runs at things, but he ain't no Jazz Player. sorry Charlie. mistermaxxx R.Kelly, Michael Jackson,Stevie wonder,Rick James,Marvin Gaye,El Debarge, Barry WHite Lionel RIchie,Isleys EWF,Lady T.,Kid creole and coconuts, the crusaders,kc sunshine band, bee gees,jW,sd,NE,JB
