i can't speak for binlahbab, but i know for sure that MY mix is going to have a good balance.
if i don't love it, it's not making the cut. but i'm not going to post up a bunch of obsucre songs by obsucre artists that i know that nobody would like.
my goals are simple. (1) i want to beat binlahbab in this competition. (2) i want to use this as an opportunity to put people up on songs by relatively popluar artists that they may have missed because the only thing people play are the hits and the popular critical favorites.
in other words, i'm not going to post up 10 classic songs that everybody has heard a million times.
"billie jean" and "human nature" are two of the best songs michael jackson ever did... but that's not going on this mix because we've all heard them, and we all love them.
it would be waaaaaaay too easy to make a 10 track compilation that just compiles all the "safe" choices that make critics lists all the time.
so i'm not going to post up songs like
MJ, billie jean or the rolling stones, satisfaction or al green, let's stay together or ac/dc, back in black or prince, when doves cry or hendrix, purple haze or the beastie boys, fight for your right to party.
sure, those are fantastic songs, but nobody would learn anything.
i want anybody that downloads the mix to find a few gems that they might not have heard otherwise.
so yeah, i'm going to keep the lesson's taste in mind... but i'm not going to just post up a bunch of "safe" choices. where's the fun in that?
