This post is spurned by me randomly running across a clip of Masta Ace's "Born To Roll" video on a IG reel.

It made me realize I had never seen the whole video:

I realized I had always wondered this, but seeing the video reinforced my curiousity: how did a rapper from Brooklyn, NY create this ode to West Coast car culture, and why?

I don't understand it. I read a couple very brief articles via Google but it still doesn't really explain why a New York rapper would make a song like this.

Hell, he even mentions The Low End Theory in the lyrics which might bump in the whip (i never really tried) but is not a West Coast car culture smash...point being, even while being West Coast he was still being very NYC-centric.

This post is to ask these questions (and maybe get some answers).
