Because they generally have a low opinion of black voters and the history of black politics.

I grew up in a rural black community that has always been politically active.

In fact, a dude wrote his thesis about how the local black folks in my community overthrew white rule.

Anyway, the reason I fuzz with Dems isn't out of any black blind loyalty but because the political apparatus that I have always worked with, that has rewarded my family and my community, has been democrats. So many of my family members have run for office as democrats or have had appointments to positions have come through Dems. The Dem party is where the established network of black political people are. If I needed some political help or help with government, its the black dems in government I will call.


These days I keep running into these Black Bernie Bros who are new to politics who complain that the Dems do anything for black people. To me it's a tell that you really aren't that involved in politics because I would almost guarantee that the highest ranking person in your local, state or federal government, that you can get access to, is probably a black democrat. We were not as well represented in Bernie's campaign. We are not as well represented in the Green Party.

But its a general contempt for black people in politics that leads black new comers to go seek out those parties for change.
