I have worked with local green campaigns here in Baltimore. We actually had a mayoral candidate finish third in an election in Baltimore where he was within a few hundred votes of the second place finisher...he could have ran again and had an actual shot to win, and I met with him before the last election but he switched parties. His chief concern was he got zero support from the national party. That sent me down the rabbit hole. I found the only person who won a major election as a green - she was the mayor of Richmond, California. Two terms. Is now on the city council there. If you do some digging you will see that Richmond went through pretty dramatic changes in the 90s ...for the better. It was this woman's administration that did it.
I ended up talking with her. Same thing. Left the Green Party after she became mayor because they gave her zero support, but put her on their national website after she won.
So yeah, I am familiar, and I am actually working with folks now to follow what I learned from the former mayor in California.
