Twitter bans the story due to its “hacked materials” policy. I haven’t read their terms and conditions but if the emails are hacked, they are authentic. If they aren’t authentic, they can’t be hacked...
I guess their policy probably states that they preemptively ban materials that if authentic must have derived from a hack (and that otherwise would run afoul of different rules presumably relating to disinfo)?
If the laptops really got dropped off at a repair shop, is the owner free legally to disseminate them? I wonder what the language of twitters policy said about what the definition of a hack is...
