At a certain point protecting humanity has to outweigh job preservation, particularly when someone is rich. As a Black man, it would be the easiest for him to "turncoat" on a political party given the stakes. That he's not, and instead doubling down shows the degree that he does not care about the country, world, or even Black people specifically.
