"Every 40 seconds a child goes missing in the United States, accounting for 765,000 missing children a year, according to the FBI. Since US Marshals partnered with NCMEC in 2005, the agency has recovered more than 1,800 missing children."
*Does quick math*
1800/14yrs = ~129 per yr
765,000 missing vs 129 recovery
I am grateful for anyone who recovers a lost child and I appreciate the agencies focused on this but...that's a very small dent in what seems to be a very big problem. Seems counterproductive to include those stats in a story about recovering missing kids.
As a parent, doing the math...I'd feel like there's a 0.0001.7% chance this agency could help me if my child was missing and that demoralizes the sh*t outta me.
