>But if my boss contacts me I have to be present at my >computer. >
Gotta be upfront and honest with the boss
one thing that has worked for me is to have my boss play quarterback for my tasks. I always have about 3 to 5 projects coming my way and I'm the only interactive designer on staff. I don't produce well (accurately, or make good work) under pressure or if I'm not prepared so we work together. A lot. A lot a lot. I say this because its a good way to set expectations up front and work out some hard stop times if you go with a shift style arrangement. That way....what fires?
Why do you have to be at your computer when youre contacted? Skype/Slack?
>He has a 2 year old and knows work and toddlers is damn near >impossible. > >Hate to say it but I’m concerned about my gig. I’m not >considered “important” in a time like this. Well, not >important enough for mandatory attendance at the office. >
Oh man. I feel that. Again - have that bald ass honest convo with the boss about how things will go down. Secure your position AND the bag.
