"I've stopped spending money for some reason - anyone else?"
In the past year I've become averse to spending money on things for some reason. Things well within my budget level - not giant splurges like designer clothes or fine dining.
I have $0 debt (mortgage is paid for completely, car is paid for completely, 0 credit card debt, 0 loan debt.) I got a raise this year too. And I sold some stuff. My job is secure. And I got a gift of $1000 cash.
Example 1: I need a new media console/entertainment center but for some reason I won't buy one new - and I'm spending way too much time look for a used one. But the used one has to be as perfect as a new one before I consider buying it. (The price range for the new ones are $900-$1500.)
Example 2: I also need a new chair because my "pleather" chair is "peeling." Instead of replacing it I got a cover for the chair - and even I don't think it looks great.
I don't know why I won't just spend the money - it's never been an issue in the past.
Note:I still eat out at work everyday for lunch - I don't feel anxious about spending $6-$12 a day for lunch. I also buy groceries and gasoline and minor things without feeling bad.
What's next? Will I start making lunch to bring to work? Eating store brand yogurt at my desk and taking the minimum time off for lunch legally possible?
Is this something that has happened to you? Or anyone you've known?
