"Old man/woman post: what songs do you vividly recall"

taking over/being blasted on the block/shopping area/strip?

I ask because 2 particular songs I just associate with the summer that those songs were blasted seemingly throughout the block and maybe the areas where shopping went down.

Denroy Morgan -- I'll Do Anything For You (1981)

Alicia Myers - I want to thank you (1981)

I say this is an old man/woman post because (not taking into account any regional differences - I'm sure some California areas and some southern areas persisted in this cultural situation) but for NYC the public blasting of music because some people just wanted the block or the shopping area (125th street in Harlem - the block the Apollo theatre is on particularly for example or Church avenue in East Flatbush Brooklyn) to feel a certain "hot" song seemed to fade by the 90's.

So, yeah, at least for NYC this is an "old" thing.

So what songs jump out from memory for y'all that the neighborhood really went "overboard" blasting all the time?
