My biggest fear is an attack on America. If you're Isis or Al Quaeda or N korea....now would be the most effective time to cash in any chips or opportunities or plans you've been saving. The time is ripe for anyone with an explicitly anti-American agenda.
In regards to the civil war stuff....I'm really scared. But there's also a part of me that thinks we might be witnessing the 'vaccination' effect. The losses of nationalist parties in Europe shortly after Trump's presidency began are surely part of this. And like I've said in a kabillion other posts....I think extreme elements of both the left and right are pushing alot of us back towards the center. Liberals like myself are being pushed back to the center of the horseshoe by the 'regressive left' and Conservatives are being pushed back to the center by the white identity politics. There's a new alliance between moderates on both sides. The civil unrest we're all witnessing is not right vs left. It's the alt-right/ctrl-left against moderates.
At least that's my hope during optimistic moments. I have to admit....I get pessimistic sometimes and the shit is a dark dark place. It hasn't affected my personal life in any measurable way....but I took Trump seriously before almost anyone else and without getting too melodramatic....it's like there's a sense of foreboding that I've been carrying around for just about a year now. It was the McCain statement about 'we like the vets that didn't get captured'. That's when it started for me. I think it's extremely important that he doesn't finish the term. Even if only by one day. It will be symbolically important. I can't help but get cliche here....but our society needs to heal. We've been damaged.
