Had my biennial listen to this album and I wondered..
-Is the format ("rock opera") something that can't happen again now that no one really buys albums or listens to full albums at this point?
-IF there were a conceptually similar album out today who would be the central producer/visionary? (be it boombap or trap or whatever)
-What current artist could be a central character? (Chance?)
-What current rappers would be able to act as convincing characters?
-What would the story/conflict even be in todays world?
-What in the fuck does Kool Keith do these days
For some reason when I imagine a similar album today I think of a 30 track trap mixtape with a ton of barely intelligible lyrics all tied to some vague theme where ultimately the plot is lost and its just a mixtape about how much shit a rapper has.
