It was a carport, converted to interior.
A garage should be a tad easier, since there's more structure there. You'll need to address the floor slab, the wall insulation, and getting conditioned air to the space. Also may need to check your jurisdiction's requirements for converting. Usually it's a zoning compliance issue.
You COULD DIY...but it'll honestly go smoother and faster farming it out to the pros. You'll need: *Carpenter to frame up walls and flooring *Electrician *Plumber if you're adding plumbing
I would think you could secure the necessary construction permit yourself.
I'd piece it out that way rather than finding a GC ..... unless that GC has all those trades under his roof already.
