It's hard to answer this question because none of us know whether or not you can sustain taking a loss as business develops. That is not to say you'll fail but businesses take time to generate revenue. My gut tells me to suggest you try it for a bit maybe four to six months to see if it's doable.

I joined an organization with a tremendous leap of faith. It's been great and bad at the same time. No one really fails at anything as all of us have to learn. There's no such thing as true failure. Everyone has set back in order to get to their destiny.

You should try but go into it with an acceptable amount of loss. If it passes that point or your situation becomes even more difficult then weigh your options in order to find the best outcome. You will regret not trying at some point more than failing. Then again you have someone else to think about. Take your time and work your way through whatever decision you make.
