44. "Sooo, no. I am not going to blame Tamir's parents for giving him a toy." In response to In response to 42
I am not going to blame Tamir for playing w/ a toy gun in public. I don't blame the immediate victims & that includes Tamir + his family.
Did I miss something? Were there multiple 911 calls describing a maybe adult Black man waving a maybe toy gun around at the park/playground & pointing it at a person?? Did you listen to the 911 call? I did & I'm struggling w/ WHY he called 911 in the 1st place if "it's probably nothing" & why the dispatcher didn't relay what was actually said. We won't even get into how the cops assaulted Tamir's sister & how they didn't administer CPR/medical attention to Tamir.
Yeah, it's a poison pill we swallow that Black people's tax dollars fund terrorism against us. I don't think the police can be reformed, the institution is too toxic & Idk what we do in the interim to protect ourselves from violence. At this point, it's gotta be life/death situation for me to call the cops other Black folks can make their own judgment calls wrt when it's appropriate to call the police.
As far as CPD murdering those folks, fuck those cops too. I will say that the person who made that call was dealing w/ a disturbed teenaged son who was smashing shit w/ a baseball bat, an actual perilous situation...I disagree w/ calling the cops on the teen but I can understand why someone else would in that situation, unlike in Tamir's situation. Tamir was a chubby kid playing w/ a toy gun at the park or w/e & shouldn't have had any police called on him.
Cops fully culpable here tho b/c a violently mentally disturbed person can be subdued w/out killing them & I can't fathom how tf the woman who lived on the 1st floor ended up murdered. My heart goes out to the families of that kid & that woman murdered by police in Chicago. I'm almost certain his dad wished he never called the police & handled it some other way tho. He will have to somehow make his peace w/ his decision that night & forgive himself for it.
