Good performances. Smith's subtlety helps off-set the hugely unsubtle script. It falls victim to the same problems most biopics have-- relationships are given the bare minimum of screen time in order to ensure they make it through the checklist of Important Life Moments. It'd have been nice if the character was less of a saint, and if they'd spent a little more time fleshing out some of the arguments by the NFL... but that would be outside of the film's agenda, which is to paint the simplest version of the argument for a mass audience. And they do that well enough.
