I usually listen to 2 or 3 audiobooks over the course of a month, and I usually read between 7 and 10 books qua books over the course of a month.

Generally, I've found that audiobooks of fairly straightforward stories (Middlemarch, Silence of the Lambs, Ghost Man) or re-reads of books I've already read and want to listen to again (Atonement, Cryptonomicon, Wolf Hall) are really good but books that flip around between time periods tend not to work for me. I also have found a couple of readers who are so good that I will listen to anything they read, notably Juliet Stevenson.

I don't think it's cheating by any means, but I do listen to fewer podcasts and less music because I'm listening to books.
