you gotta figure two things are at play.
All the parents when this shit pops off sees sign but doesn't think their kid is gonna be the one (a mistake which often costs their own lives).
And that guns are so casually ingrained in some US subcultures I bet you she thought it was good bonding time and was helpful as far as therapy is concerned, as nuts as that sounds. It's a hobby, its relatively social (cause gun people love talking about their guns) etc. There's a complete disconnect that their hobby is based off a weapon that can wipe out dozens of humans with just a finger twitch.
