"Poll question: Tacky/Unprofessional or Smart" Thu Jul-30-15 12:25 PM by Cenario
A group of us had drinks and a couple of shared appetizers at a table at a bar. The bill was around $120 and bc of a math error we wound up leaving around $13 in cash and told her to keep the change.
She came back a few minutes later and asked if she was displeased with the service? We said we weren't..and she said she just wanted to doublecheck bc of how much we left for the tip. She still had the envelope with cash and bill in her hand. The person that calculated everything asked for it back and saw how short we were. We threw in a few dollars to fix it.
We all recognized what the waitress did...some thought it was tacky and said she should have just accepted the error, others said they appreciated how she handled it. In reference to the waitress, the service wasn't great but there wasn't anything wrong with it either. It was right after work so it was very busy, and she clearly was very busy and being called in different directions. When she told us about the tip, she wasn't ultra friendly but she wasn't rude either.
