I feel like I was a gentrifier in Fort Greene in 2000. Gentrification had already begun, but Moe's had yet to open and there were still low-quality Jamaican joints and occasional shoot-outs.

I wanted to be a gentrifier in East Liberty when I moved to Pittsburgh, but I couldn't, for the same reason I won't be a gentrifier in SE DC: got kids, can't fuck with the schools.
