a few years ago, i got a bike. it was great and i was on it all summer. then one day, after a burrito run at my favorite pop-up, it was stolen
i wasn't that upset about it as i walked with my friend to the police precinct to report the theft and walking home from bushwick, where the theft occurred
but the next few days i was SAD
which i didn't understand. it was just a bike.
until someone pointed out that it wasn't really the bike that was taken from me it was the joy i felt riding it
and they were right i was lucky to have a spare bike lent to me but it really wasn't the same. the bike was too big. i barely rode it last summer.
so i decided to do some internet searching and i found the same brand/model of the bike i had that i could afford because it was last year's model
i went to the shop yesterday and it was already built for me. they let me go on a test ride and as i rode up the street, i smiled and felt happy
took it on the subway during the tail end of rush hour (don't hate me!)
got off a few stops early, and rode the last mile home
it felt great. i'm totes out of shape though. and my haunches are aching. that good 'break in a bike seat' pain.
i'm positive because i got some joy back this week
tonight, i prep for my DJ gigs tomorrow, i spin 2 (including a vinyl set! eek!) sunday, i rest and hopefully do some fun things
