I tend to forget, but I notice that when I don't is usually when I end up spilling shit.

I always feel weird doing it too cause I don't even believe in an afterlife too tough. But I guess I see it more as taking the moment to remember if they were still alive they'd be sipping it with you.

Then there's the link that can be drawn to ritual pouring of libations. Probably appears in some form in a lot of cultures.

Just an interesting practice IMO.
