life is at risk because of a surgery she's having that could potentially be life-threatening, but if his wife/SO/girlfriend is *giving* life then it's not really that important if he's there with her for the birth...I mean since it's not like he's actually helping with the delivery and the baby won't have any memory of it anyway...

Why do parents regret missing their child's 1st steps or a 1st day of school or finally being potty trained or whatever special occassion when their child won't know if the mother/father is there anyway?

It's because those memories in life are still very important to many parents and *some*men in particular and no matter how much importance we put on the Super Bowl (seems like we make it larger than life every year), IT IS STILL JUST A GAME...

If he decides to play, it's his prerogative but if he does decide to go be by his girlfriend's side for the pregnancy, he shouldn't ridiculed for it.

>That's a different scenario, of course he should be there if
>his wife ( this is he gf though) has cancer or if it's a high
>risk pregnancy.
>
>But as far as I've heard this is a routine pregnancy. Women
>have babies all the time with out the Dad present.
>
>He has a particular skill set that is needed especially by his
>employer on this special day. He should go the work.

His job is not a regular job, he has several ppl behind him who have been trained to do that same job in case Sherman is out because of injuries or family matters or suspension

>
>The baby will not even know who he is.

The parent will know though and the parent(s) are the ones who value these types of experiences for their own reasons
