Cause I get tired of hearing about it from other Black people.
And I'm only sharing this because you asked SH.
"You think you cute b/c you light". Hearing that so many times and worse I would think damn it I wasn't bothering you or saying anything to you...
But I get it. I see where this sentiment comes from and I just ignore it as misdirected anger.
My own relatives have made up stories and damaged relationships because I'm light and other members of my family are not.
I can't help how I look. I didn't ask my parents to give me more white/light-skinned genes before I came out of the womb. Wtf.
I don't pay attention to the extra attention I get. Sometimes this is interpreted as making myself smaller. No, I just hate the extra attention and what it brings.
Some chicks wanted to start fights. Dudes would make all kinds of inappropriate assumptions.
A lot of that has toned down now that I'm older though.
Outside of Black people? No, I'd have to think really hard to remember a time where it had any affect on how the world treated me. I'm Black until I get around certain Black people.
