14. "Hey, I get it." In response to In response to 12 Tue Jan-13-15 10:45 AM by Frank Longo
The accusations are credible to me.
But it's also easy for me to understand why some folks are far less inclined to tank the career of a man who's publicly defended himself against a lone accuser from his hostile ex-family* than that of the man who refuses to defend himself against a myriad of rape accusers. That's all I'm saying. I wouldn't defend Woody, nor would I defend the decision for backers to back him as "morally sound." I just saw the Cosby comparison getting thrown out there-- "Cosby is cancelled, why isn't Woody?!"-- and I think there's a difference in terms of defensibility.
*-obviously not that his ex-family being hostile makes the accusations less credible or worthy of ignoring, it's just easier to explain for those who'd wish to defend him than "here are tons of separate women with the same story about a man who won't won't address it other than making ill-advised jokes about it live!" If Woody had nearly double digit accusations of molestation and was popping jokes in appearances about "keep your kids away from me!," dude would've been out of a career years ago.
