the thing with Queens is that there is a lot of overlapping done and it goes back to village/town days i.e. Malba, Whitestone, College Point, Queensborough Hill, Auburndale were all villages that were part of the town of Flushing. I saw this a lot with the post office bouncing around Queens growing up. When I lived in Forest Hills, our mail would sometimes be addressed as "Flushing, NY", other times it would be "Jamaica, NY" (that NEVER made sense to me but whatever). My mom goes through this now living in Kew Gardens Hills, her mail either says Flushing or Jamaica.
In Dutch Kills' case I would say about 3/4s of that hood overlaps with Hunters Point so it's almost interchangeable at this point. It doesn't help that Queens is beginning to suffer that horrible hipster ailment of renaming neighborhoods or shortening names. I'm starting to see a TON of references to "FoHi" (Forest Hills) and it makes me murderously angry, esp since I came up there too. I hope one of the old-school Bulgars or Russians hammerfists whoever started that shit's head open.
