"Million Man March 20th Anniversary is Next Year, We Need Another" Fri Dec-05-14 11:16 AM by imcvspl
Could anyone coordinate it? People who should not be associated with it - Jesse, Al or Louis. Maybe they can speak but they should not be listed as organizers. I'd love someone like Van Jones to put out the call.
I was talking with an old head connected to politics and he told me there was statistical evidence that there was a decrease in crime among black men in the 2-3 years after the first march. I don't have those stats unfortunately but if it's true...
It makes sense because Black men returned home with a sense of hope and possibility. I'm sure so many of them were actively attempting to put the change needed in their lives. But there's only so much that can be done without the infrasturctural and institutional backing to support our efforts.
I'd really like to see another March coordinated and even more important the steps be taken to create those institutions and infrastructure to affect more long term change.
