I just got into Broad City last night and I managed to tear through a four episode marathon.

I love this show.

And at the same time I also love Girls.

I couldnt help but compare the two shows because they are taken from the perspective of young white women in New York City.

What makes Broad City work is that you're able to see some grime and grit while laughing about the trials that come with the daily struggle. Girls on the other hand looks very inward and addresses feelings and navel gazing.


Girls got shit on for not having people of color on the show, this was combated by having Hannah fuck Donald Glover in the beginning of season 2. Broad City just straight up opened with Ilana (who strangely has a hot thing going on) hooking up with Hannibal a show regular and character. Which btw, I kind of enjoy the fact that he is the responsible one being an employed dentist.



I'm glad this show exists.
