I think office rules if there is a new black person joining the office, the old head in the office should come around and say what's up. (or is the new black persons job to seek out the old black person?)

I didn't do this in this case because do is older and ethnically ambiguous. He might not even identify as black. He didn't join the black employee resource group.

Then at the holiday party never made it to where he was in the room. BUT THEN someone who works with me says, "yeah he was talking about you. He said he heard you like to get bent at holiday parties". I was like this mofo.

Anyway, we get into the elevator yesterday and he starts talking to me. He is asking me about something and I half answered and then I got a phone call and didn't look back at dude (also had a bad day so wasn't even in the mood).
