If Jill Scott had the hot looks ( she was still beautiful)of an Aliyah or some other young sexy singer, they would have pushed that. Badu’s notoriety definitely played a role, but I think appeal was a factor as well.
I can’t see them saying no in that situation, because a lot of that went on in the music business.
