And even if they are, you have to make it pretty high up the chain and be fortunate there too.
AND EVEN IF YOU GET THAT, there's still a chance that someone somewhere can still pull a 'fuck it, we need to hit this magic number cuz that's the number we want' and still mess up stuff. Or even if not, the goalposts get moved and you go from being praised from the mountains one month/quarter/year to being treated like you and your team are going to put the company out of business the next.
I remember worrying so much about going to a bigger company and being treated 'like a number'. But I messed around and stayed too long and the place I work now is obsessed with numbers so its d@mn near the same thing I was worried about. It isn't all the way there yet, but *weird Kendrick voice* I-can-feel-the-chan-ges.
