But like what did she expect? I talked to her two weeks ago and she was telling me about how she has a "COVID family." Basically her an her husband and they have like 3-5 couple friends that are the only people they hang out with.
And look, I'm only an Industrial Engineer and she's a Chemical Engineer, but I'm pretty sure a virus doesn't check who you're hanging out with.
Plus they've been going to the bar every now and then, but they're regulars she insisted.
When she told me that last week I just was like "okay" ... because at this point you're not going to be able to convince other adults of anything so why bother. But this whole shit is feeling very doomish.
Everyone wants normal but too many people don't want to put in hard work for a normal. They'll make changes, they'll even do difficult things, but far too many people keep wanting to negotiate with nature. Individuals can't end a pandemic and just being careful isn't enough anyways. At this point the only option we have as individuals is long, grueling, draining, sheltering in place ... that's it.
