Nas - I think he is the first credible rapper to do it. Jay-Z - Wins the most Growth award Little Brother - Have always been the group who raps about the shit I am going through on a daily basis and that still hasn't change. De La Soul - The first group to rap about life after the limelight which they did way before there time on only their second album.
What I personally hate to hear is rappers who haven't changed in 20 years. Busta nobody wants a club anthem from you. I am going to get heckled for this one but, Jada, no one wants to hear about your gangerster-ism when you get AARP shit in the mail. If you an old Gangsta, you need to rap about the good old days and the patnas you lost along the way, not how you still holding it down.
And for the Ladies, Queen Latifah did a good job of grown women rap on that Rapsody song.
