It's news to anyone here that Lizzo is popular or *why* she's is popular. We also know she's actually talented (at least I do, as I was the one who posted her Tiny Desk concert in praise of said talent). Ask tho, why in 2019 is there no black version of Adele who's loved by all those races as Adele is? Why don't white folks fuck with that? No, we're not begging them to or saying we need/want them to... but we notice that they don't unless there is some kind of (usually niggerish) novelty attached to it. Homely Black woman in a flowing dress, getting all the awards for just being a good singer/songwriter. That ain't what they want from a Black woman. That is the critique for the most part.

Right, and that'd probably work no matter what race you are... but if you're a heavy-set Black woman, you almost have to do that instead of just being... Adele.
