So he gave us the ability to choose to do good things or bad things. It's on us.
But what about natural disasters and other bad things that happen outside of manmade suffering? There are two parts to this.
1. We don't know God's plan. We don't know if God caused that earthquake that kills 100,000 was in order to a.) head of some further worst disaster or b.) create conditions so that great things can happen later. We just don't have the ability to see the bigger picture.
2. We see suffering here on earth and dying as the worst possible outcome but when you think about how brief our lives are, how long history and time is, and we are to believe that there is a great afterlife waiting for us, short term suffering on earth might be nothing for a soul that is about to enjoy everlasting life. Conversely, evil men like Trump seeming to get away with it seems unfair, unless you believe dude is going to spend an eternity in hell for his sins.
You can argue around the edges and about the details fo these ideas, but these general ideas are enough to explain it all to a person of faith (and yes CT this is a matter of faith, so its ineffective to argue about the proof of Gods existence to people of faith).
