Funny thing is, I've probably lived here longer than the majority of the people shopping there.
I usually avoid Clarendon because the general population there is the highest concentration of unchecked entitlement in the region....but it's the closest one to us and I needed to get the groceries quick that day. I haven't set foot in Georgetown in years for the same reason.
It's wild meeting folks or coming across them (especially now that we have a kindergartner and interact with more Arlington locals vs when she was in daycare in DC) and they talk to us like we're new to the area or don't know anything about Arlington.....then we hit them with the #actually we've been Arlingtonians for the better part of 16 years.....
It's one of the reasons I rep for my county so hard. We Black and we here participating in the community. Arlington has a strong Black history, but a lot of the newcomers don't know it. They think they've stumbled upon some white haven and that we have no business there. It's easier for folks to take what you readily give up.
